| here's a conversation steven and I were having earlier...
11:38pmStepperhenson I'm glad you're not completely a 'Believer' and you do have some cynicism. Otherwise we couldn't have any debates
11:46pmKatherine
hehe yeah... i'm a contradiction - I'm a logical person but I also have certain beliefs and theories that aren't 100% logical
but I have them because they seem the most logical to me
11:47pmStepperhenson
You mean, theories that don't quite make sense? I can't have that...everything has to make PERFECT logical and proven sense to me
11:47pmKatherine
and so I want to believe and I do believe in the paranormal, but I will readily sit there and explain 'ghost photos' etc away in a logical and scientific manor
haha i mean.... logic can't answer everything
I believe in the big bang
11:48pmStepperhenson So do I
Because it, along with evolution actually makes SENSE
The fact that we were made from clay...doesn't[/color]
11:48pmKatherine but what was there before the big bang? why did it happen? how did all that matter get 'squished' into that one tiny space and how was there that photon of light that set the whole thing off?
and how did the 'universe'/reality come into existance? has it just always existed?
and if so how come there was one definate point that our universe came into existance? - what happened in 'reality' before the big bang? was there another universe that collapsed in on itself? and if so what started the big bang for that one....
you can cycle round with no answer forever

| I don't think you got this, but I did say:
Is it impossible for us to be on an infinite loop, one that is constantly going on and on, around and around, whereby the ending of each universe sparks the creation of another.
This also works if you consider time travel. There is and was never a 'Nothing', just an eternal cycle in which we end and then begin once again, eliminating the possibility of a God of some sort fuelling the Big Bang. The Big Bang has also been recreated many times and is a marvellous phenomenon, so whose to say it couldn't be that of another universe, experiments gone wrong and thus destroying their own Universe, simultaneously creating another?
Does that make any sense whatsoever?

| it does make sense... but if your theory is correct about an accident in another universe starting the big bang... what started their universe? =P
that's what I mean about the infinate loop
It's more an infinate loop of unanswered questions rather than an infinate loop of time or universes.
and again... if there is no infinate loop and there WAS nothing before our universe's big bang... how the hell did it jump from 'nothing' to zome lots of matter ready for a big bang - by the very definition of nothing, no matter could have been there to start, and how the hell did it get there when it did? and where did the photon of light come from? there's not exactly many light generating sources in -nothing-

| The infinite loop did not begin, nor did it end. That's the problem with human mentality, you believe that everything must have begun from when nothing was nothing. Why can we not just be here and now, without there ever having been a beginning or an end? It lacks imaginativity, creativty, it can't just be accepted that there is an never was nothing, never before anything. IF the Big Bang theory is correct, then were are, in fact, on an infinite loop, and not working in a linear fashion. We could, indeed, just BE here, and nothing more. The human brain simply cannot comprehend such a thing, because of their desire to work out the past and the reasons for everything. As soon as that is accepted, you can then advance. But until you stop getting hung up on the technicalities and arguing with one another, you're never going to get anywhere. Think of it this way, when you're looking for your keys you spend hours and hours looking for them, every now and then you think, "Oh wait, I remember having them when I was here!" but yet you still can't remember what happened to them. So you leave it alone and then, when you're least expecting it, you stumble across them. If you can't find something you don't keep looking and looking, you give up until eventually it'll just come to you, just like the existance of the Universe. But mankind is searching relentlessly and they will NEVER find it, and until that fact is accepted, they'll never get anywhere, just like looking for your keys. | |

| That's one thing you can be sure of, though, that the answer exists. You just need to forget about it and it'll come to you... eventually. Human's are silly. | |

| Also, with my theory, the existence of God has been disproved. Why? Because if we are in an enternal loop of Universes, never beginning, never ending, nothing sparked it off. It's ingrained in the human mind that everything must begin and that everything much end... Those who are on the fence aren't quite sure about God or the big bang theory, so choose to believe both, to an extent. Believing that although God has no active role in the advancement and protection of the universe, but that he must, theoretically exist to spark off the Big Bang, since God is the only thing that can live in 'the void' if you will, when NOTHING exists.
But... my theory says that there never was and never WILL be a nothing. This Universe simply was not created. The fork in the road is if you chose to go with the infinite universe, that never ends and never begins. Or where the Universe DOES end, but it's ending sparks the beginning of the next, and so on, and so forth. It is simply because humans have it ingrained in their minds that the Universe MUST have been created. Yet, the laws of reality say that nothing can't not exist (triple negatives, don't you love them?) so why the HELL would the Universe have to begin and end at some point?
